Coffee and Laughs’ Story

Coffee and Laughs’ Story

Coffee and Laughs shared their story with WE ARE WALES to show the incredible contributions of BAME people in Wales.

Coffee and Laughs is a wonderful charity and friendship group for women of all ages, faiths, and cultures in Community House, Maindee.

When Community House closed, the group still kept in contact with calls and zoom each week to connect, share their stories and art online to express themselves creatively to help isolation while supporting their wellbeing.

Working with artist Naz Syed, a community quilt was created as part of the Lost Connections project, fusing art, textiles and poetry. To symbolise the hands of friendship and the experiences, emotions and connections over this time in lockdown. Individual stories and art captured on www.lostconnectionsart.co.uk

Each piece of hand textile art was created at home by different women in the group with an art pack delivered from Naz and workshops online and then hand-stitched by Marilyn Priday and poetry from Susan Lewis.
